James Way sat backstage of the tribute concert to his dying father, Gerard Way. Gerard had been diagnosed with liver cancer a few short months ago, and everything spiralled out of control since then. Gerard's brother Mikey started drinking again, his best friend Frank started cutting himself and James had resorted to drugs to get through the tough time. No one knew of James' addiction as he kept it secret. His step-mother Lindsey was broken both mentally and emotionally and James needed to be strong for her and his little sister, Bandit. Everyone was worried for the health and safety of them and was completely oblivious to James' problems. No one noticed James' inability to do things. Most of the time, he could barely walk straight yet no one saw. Gerard's news had hit James the hardest. Gerard was his hero, his saviour, his life. Without him, James felt like he couldn't carry on. F: Do you remember when we were younger?
G: I remember a lot of things from when we were younger.
F: True; but do you remember that we said that if neither of us were married by the time we were thirty-
G: that we'd marry each other? Yeah, what about it?
F: Well you're thirty-four and single and my thirtieth is in a few days
G: Your point?
F: Well were both single and thirty.
G: You're twenty-nine.
F: Fine. We'll both be thirty or over in a few days.
F: C'mon! Are you really that daft?
G: Apparently. Now what are you getting at?
F: We should get married!
G: Why would we do that?
F: 'Cause we promised each other!
G: Oh yeah.
G: Well what?
F: Are we?
G: Are we what?
F: Oh come on! Stop being such a douche!
G: I'm not being a douche!
F: Yes you are!
G: No I'm not.

The Winds of Change
Dean was stinking drunk. He and Sammy had fought the good fight and ended up with the short end of the stick too many times to count. This time wasn't any different. Sam was in the motel-from-hell room nursing his cuts and bruises. Dean asked him to accompany him, but his kid brother was back on the health food kick. Figured.
So Dean took his baby to the nearest bar, only a few miles from the motel, parked in the only available spot and cruised on in. By the time he was so drunk he thought he was seeing two of everybody, he'd gotten into a fight, won a few pool games and hit on every waitress and barmaid in the place.
Just his luck this was a country and western bar. The music playing on the old-fashioned juke box was crap. Like the song right now.

My Brother, My Hero"Gerard, its Mom. Please come see your brother, he's always asking for you."My Brother, My Hero by meralies
"Gerard, Mikey needs you. Please visit him soon."
"Gerard- Just call him yourself and tell him that you don't want to see him!"
Gerard played the messages on his phone over and over. Each one sounding more distressed than the last. His brother, Mikey, was in the hospital. He had been sick for nearly a year; he had been in a car accident. The impact of the steering wheel had crushed his chest and destroyed his heart. He was living off a machine that acted as a substitute for his broken heart. But he was never meant to live off it forever, and he was getting weaker every day. He needed a transplant as soon as possible, but a suitable donor hadn't yet been found. Gerard had visited for a few months after the accident, but he stopped. He just couldn't stand being in that hospital room, absolutely powerless to save his little brother. Facing Mikey's impending doom wasn't something he was strong enough to do.
